Are you planning to renovate your home? Do you know where to stay during the renovation? Are you looking for temporary housing during renovation in Singapore? Are you confused if you should choose 1 month house rental Singapore or a long term hotel stay Singapore?

It is quite easy to fall into a trap when it comes to home renovation. There are so many things to consider when planning a renovation and so many decisions to make that it can be easy to become overwhelmed.

For instance, temporary accommodations while your house is under renovation Singapore. If you don’t know how to do the work or have never done a home renovation before, choosing the right temporary house might be difficult. This could end up costing you more money.

In this article, I’m going to give you 4 ideas of temporary accommodation while renovating your house.

So if you are planning a home renovation and need to know where to stay, then read on…

Your Other House

If you own another house, it will be a free option to stay when your main home is in on-going renovation. You’ll feel comfortable and convenient since it’s your own property. You can do anything you want there without feeling bad about it. Although it might be very uncommon in Singapore, it would be very helpful. Moreover, you don’t have to spend money to rent an apartment or a hotel so you can allocate it for another business.

Relative’s House

Another free option to stay when your home is under renovation is your relative’s house. If they have extra rooms for you to sleep, you can ask them nicely if you can stay there for a while. It might be inconvenient since you have to share a space with other people. But, it’s such a cheap choice especially when you’re on a limited budget.

Hotel Rental

If you don’t have another property, or feel it is inconvenient to stay in your relative’s house, you can opt for a hotel rental. Primarily when you only need to stay for less than a month. When you stay in a hotel, you don’t need to worry about cleaning matters because a hotel rental usually provides daily room cleaning services which include taking out rubbish, vacuuming up the floor, changing bed sheets, and refilling clean towels and toiletries. It is also complemented with some facilities but may be not as complete as an apartment. You usually can’t cook and wash your clothes inside your hotel room and the space is limited. Moreover, the price of a hotel rental is generally fixed and often depends on seasonal factors. For instance, the price usually is higher during the holiday season.

Serviced Apartments

A serviced apartment is a perfect option for a family whose home is under renovation. It is just like a regular apartment with a spacious living area that features a bedroom, living room bathroom, and kitchen. The facilities of a serviced apartment offer all the comforts and necessities of home. For example, a fully equipped kitchen, washing and drying machine, TV and Wi-Fi. Those facilities will make you feel at home. It’s a good choice when you want to stay for more than a month since the fee is also better than a hotel rental. However, a serviced apartment usually doesn’t have cleaning room services. If it does, you have to pay more for it.

Things to Notice

Budget

When you stay in a hotel rental or a serviced apartment during home renovation, don’t forget to put it into a budgeting list so you have a clear vision about home renovation costs and you know how much money you’ll spend. Don’t forget to choose a budget-friendly accommodation.

Timeline

You also have to consider how long your renovation is. Plan the best time to do this project because every time has advantages and disadvantages. For example, if you renovate your home during the regular season, you can get a regular price, but you’ll have to think about a place to stay that doesn’t disturb your activity. Make sure the place isn’t far from your office or your children’s school. On the other hand, if you renovate your house during the holiday season, anywhere you stay, you don’t have to be overwhelmed about school or work, but the price is usually higher.
